Modern Slavery Statement
Twickenham Movers Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is made on behalf of Twickenham Movers in respect of the financial year ending 31 December. It sets out the steps we take to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. We are committed to acting ethically, with integrity and transparency in all business dealings, and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Twickenham Movers is a removals and relocation business providing domestic and commercial moving services. Our activities involve direct employment of staff, use of subcontracted labour on occasion, and engagement with a range of suppliers, including vehicle hire and maintenance, packing materials, storage facilities and cleaning services. We recognise that our supply chains may extend to higher risk sectors and jurisdictions, and we therefore take a proactive approach to identifying and addressing potential modern slavery risks.
Zero-Tolerance Approach to Modern Slavery
We have a clear zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour and child labour. This applies to everyone working for or on behalf of Twickenham Movers, including employees, agency workers, contractors, subcontractors and suppliers. Any indication of modern slavery within our operations or supply chains is treated as a serious breach of our standards and may result in termination of contracts or working relationships, as well as notification to relevant authorities where appropriate.
Policies and Governance
Our commitment to preventing modern slavery is supported by internal policies covering ethical conduct, recruitment, equal opportunities, health and safety and whistleblowing. These policies are communicated to staff as part of induction and ongoing training. Managers are responsible for promoting an open culture in which concerns about unethical behaviour, including modern slavery risks, can be raised without fear of retaliation. Ultimate responsibility for our modern slavery approach rests with the senior management team, which oversees policy implementation and risk management.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We expect all our suppliers and business partners to share our commitment to combating modern slavery. As part of our procurement process, we seek assurance that suppliers operate in line with applicable labour and human rights laws and maintain safe and fair working conditions. We may require suppliers to confirm their own modern slavery policies and controls and to co-operate with our due diligence requests. Where appropriate, we conduct supplier audits, which may include site visits, document reviews and interviews. If concerns or non-compliance are identified, we work with the supplier to agree corrective action plans and timeframes. Persistent failure to meet our standards may lead to the suspension or termination of the relationship.
Risk Assessment and Due Diligence
We assess modern slavery risks based on the nature of the goods and services we procure, the locations in which they are produced or delivered, and the use of temporary or subcontracted labour. Higher risk areas are subject to enhanced due diligence and more frequent review. We aim to incorporate modern slavery considerations into our commercial decisions, including supplier selection, contract renewal and performance monitoring.
Reporting Concerns and Protection
Twickenham Movers encourages all employees, contractors, suppliers and other stakeholders to report any concerns about modern slavery, human trafficking or related abuses in our operations or supply chains. Concerns can be raised with line managers, senior management or through established internal reporting channels. Reports are taken seriously, investigated promptly and treated, as far as practicable, in confidence. We do not tolerate victimisation or retaliation against any person who raises a concern in good faith, even if it is not substantiated upon investigation.
Training and Awareness
We are committed to improving awareness of modern slavery risks among our staff, particularly those involved in recruitment, procurement and supplier management. Training and guidance are provided so that employees can recognise potential indicators of modern slavery and understand how to respond. We also encourage our suppliers to promote awareness within their own workforce and supply chains.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
Twickenham Movers recognises that combating modern slavery is an ongoing process. We are committed to continually improving our systems and controls, informed by emerging good practice, legal developments and lessons learned from our own experience and supplier audits. This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is reviewed annually by senior management to assess its effectiveness and to identify opportunities for enhancement. Any significant updates to our approach or procedures will be reflected in future statements. This statement has been approved by the management of Twickenham Movers and will be updated and published each year.
